Chinese New Year Festival From 2 to 3pm at the San Diego Buddhist Association. “As we welcome the year of Tiger, we invite you and your family to see the New Year cultural performance of lion dance, children CNY dancing, singing and many more. After the performance, you are welcome to visit our temple to see the Red Envelope Creative Exhibition and LEGO mini CNY display.”
Film Screening: A Choice of Weapons From 2 to 4pm at the Oceanside Museum of Art. “Join us in-person at Oceanside Museum of Art for a free community screening of the film A Choice of Weapons: Inspired by Gordon Parks (99 minutes). Presented in partnership with Oceanside Public Library and the North County African American Women’s Association, the film explores the power of images in advancing racial, economic, and social equality as seen through the lens of Gordon Parks, one of America’s most trailblazing artists, and the generation of young photographers, filmmakers, and activists he inspired. From the 1940s through the 2000s, Parks’ bold and revealing body of work captured the intersections of art, race, class and politics across the United States, documenting civil rights and social justice as part of the everyday experience.”
Season Opening of Haydn Voyages: Music at the Maritime Museum Show begins at 2:30pm. Get tickets, here. “The Hausmann Quartet and Maritime Museum of San Diego are excited to partner to present the seventh season of Haydn Voyages: Music at the Maritime, a quarterly concert series performed aboard one of the Museum’s ten historic world-class vessels, the 1898 steam ferryboat Berkeleythat operated for 60 years on San Francisco Bay.”
Opening Day of Mardi Gras at SeaWorld “This New Orleans-style carnival event comes complete with live music, colorful costumes, and All-New Mardi Gras-infused Creole and Cajun food favorites like hearty jambalaya, those ever-popular beignets, and much more. Don’t miss your chance to feel that French Quarter vibe, dance in the streets, and indulge in all the flavor and fun that only Mardi Gras can bring. “Laissez le bon temps rouler!”
